      (7/1/01-6/30/04); funded by Board of Corrections (State of California) (Grant #006-01); 3-year grant to provide assertive community treatment services provided to mentally ill adult offenders in the San Joaquin criminal justice system; collaboration includes Public Defender's Office, District Attorney, Community Based Organizations, Mental Health Services and Mental Health Correctional Services

    • Phase II Community Action Grant for Service System Change, City of Berkeley, Berkeley Mental Health
      (7/1/99-present); funded by Center for Mental Health Services (CMHS), Substance Abuse Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA), Washington, D.C. (Grant #1 KD1 SM52691-01 ); 1-year demonstration grant to develop a comprehensive approach towards serving the severely mentally ill in Berkeley, CA using an Assertive Community Treatment (ACT) approach

    • Challenge Grant II - Project Impact, Mayor's Office of Criminal Justice, San Francisco
      (7/1/00-6/30/04); funded by Board of Corrections (State of California); 3-year demonstration grant to implement an integrated system of care involving a collaboration of Department of Public Health, Community Mental Health Services, Juvenile Probation Services and the Department of Human Services to provide a comprehensive services to juvenile offenders in San Francisco

    • Repeat Offenders Prevention Project (ROPP), San Francisco Juvenile Probation Department
      (7/1/99-10/1/02); funded by Board of Corrections (State of California) ; 2-year demonstration project to reduce youth recidivism through providing a 2-tiered transitional, school-based program with a fine-arts focus and family empowerment framework; serves first-time San Francisco juvenile offenders under 14.6 years of age and their families; addresses issues relating to parenting, communication, academics, substance use, and high-risk delinquency behaviors

    • San Leandro-Hayward Misdemeanor Drug Treatment Court, City and County of Alameda
      (7/1/98-present); federally funded by Office of Justice Program (Grant #946000499); 2-year demonstration (OJP) program to provide drug court treatment services through linkages with community based services, community policing, and employment assistance agencies in Hayward, CA

    • Youth Treatment and Education Drug Court (YTEC), City/County of San Francisco
      (10/1/98-present); federally funded by Office of Juvenile Justice and Delinquency Prevention ; 28-month project to impact escalating juvenile alcohol and other drug abuse, delinquency, and recidivism among juvenile offenders through providing a comprehensive, highly structured, nonadversarial drug court and community based intensive supervision program to engage nonviolent, AOD abusing San Francisco juvenile offenders and their families

    • Project Team Relay, Asian Pacific Development Center
      (10/1/98-present); federally funded by Center for Substance Abuse Prevention of SAMHSA (Grant # HD1-SPO-7245-03); 3-year demonstration program to provide a culturally competent and gender specific two-level mentorship program serving high-risk Asian youth and their families in Denver, CO; seeks to reduce substance abuse susceptibility among high-risk South Asian youth through empowerment strategies and addressing risk factors associated with self-esteem, sense of isolation, school performance, cultural identity, health risk, and life management skills; multi-site participant

    • Bridge Project, Lutheran Social Services
      (10/1/96-present); jointly federally funded by Human Resource and Services Administration and Housing Urban Development (Grant # BRH 970171-01 ); treatment and intervention project to provide comprehensive medical, mental health, money management, benefits counseling, and nursing services to HIV+, homeless individuals in the Tenderloin area of San Francisco; multi-site participant

    • Evaluation of three pilot Single-Point of Responsibility (SPR) programs, Community Mental Health Services (CMHS)
      (1/1/98-present); funded by City/County of San Francisco (Grant # HM-800346-MH); evaluation (process and cost analyses) of three pilot programs serving high-cost adult users of the San Francisco mental health system using Assertive Community Treatment (ACT) services

    • Alameda County Drug Court, City and County of Alameda
      (7/1/98-6/30/99); funded by City/County of Alameda; 1-year grant to provide a cross-sectional analysis of the current Alameda County Consolidated Drug Court program on systemic and outcome levels.

    • Evaluation of the SF Juvenile Probation Parenting Program, San Francisco Juvenile Probation Department
      (4/1/98-6/30/99); funded by City/County of San Francisco (Grant #3022); 1-year grant to review all current documentation and tracking systems, conduct phone interviews regarding client satisfaction and determine outcome measures as they pertain to program goals/objectives of the multi-lingual (English, Spanish, Chinese) San Francisco Juvenile Probation Parenting Program

    • Evaluation of the SF Juvenile Probation GIRL Project Program, San Francisco Juvenile Probation Department
      (4/1/98-6/30/99); funded by City/County of San Francisco (Grant #3022); 1-year grant to review and develop intake/service utilization/discharge forms, recommend outcome measures as they relate to program goals/objectives and recommend MIS systems of the GIRL Project; comprised of three collaborating agencies providing an art program, peer leadership, individual and family counseling and groups to females only.

    • Comprehensive Asian Pre-School Services, Asian American Recovery Services, Inc.
      (10/1/97-9/30/01); funded by SAMHSA (CSAT, CSAP, CMHS) & Casey Family Foundation (Grant #5 U1H SP08000-03); 4-year KDA grant to test the efficacy of integrating culturally-appropriate behavioral health services to regular preschool services on child development, parenting skills, parent-child relationships, and access to/usage of community services for low-income children and families receiving state subsidized preschool services in San Francisco; involved collaboration of 6 private and public agencies; received exemplary model award from funders

    • Asian Domestic Violence Prevention Collaborative Project, Nihonmachi Legal Outreach
      (7/1/97-6/30/99); funded by Department of Health Services, Maternal and Child Health Branch, State of California (Grant #97-11193); 2-year grant to reduce the incidence of domestic violence in the Asian/Pacific Islander communities in San Francisco/Alameda counties through an informative website and workshop presentations and collaborative efforts with 8 CBO agencies

    • Evaluation of Intensive Home-Based Services, San Francisco Juvenile Probation
      (7/1/97-6/30/98); funded by City/County of San Francisco (Grant #3064); 1-year grant to provide a snapshot of the intensive home-based services offered through 7 CBO agencies contracted with the SF Juvenile Probation Department

    • Prevention, Intervention and Education Project, Chinatown Youth Center
      (7/1/96-6/30/98); funded by United Way; 3-year project to educate and provide support for Asian youth assuming a more active role in interrupting the cycle of violence in their families; included on-site middle school counseling services and presentations

    • Program Review and Monitoring Report, Department of Mental Health
      (7/1/96-6/30/01); funded by City/County of San Francisco (Department of Public Health) (Grant # BPHM99000154); 4-year contract to provide program review, site/audit and Medi-Cal certification visits of approximately 126 mental health programs contracted to provide services to City/County of San Francisco mental health clients, including City-operated programs

    • Project REACH, Lutheran Social Services
      (10/1/95-9/30/99); federally funded by Center for Substance Abuse Prevention of SAMHSA (Grant #5 HD1 SPO7441-02); 3-year project to provide comprehensive culturally and linguistically appropriate substance abuse prevention services to high risk youth aged 9-14 years old and their families

    • Project AHEAD, Asian Pacific Development Center
      (10/1/95-9/30/99); federally funded by Center for Substance Abuse Prevention of SAMHSA (Grant #1 HD1SPO7245-01); 3-year project to provide multi-faceted, culturally competent program aimed at decreasing/preventing ATOD use and delinquent/violent behavior among high risk, middle school Southeast Asian youth

    • In Your Hands (IYH), Glide Memorial Methodist Church
      (10/1/93-9/30/98); federally funded by Center for Substance Abuse Prevention of SAMHSA (Grant #1H86 SPO5579-01); 5-year program to provide an integrated layering of intensive programs in a church setting to prevent alcohol and drug abuse among high-risk youth and their families in San Francisco

    • Asian American Recovery Services (AARS, Inc.): Asian American Residential Recovery Services (AARRS), Project ADAPT (San Francisco), and The Place (San Jose)
      (10/1/90-9/30/98); federally funded by Center for Substance Abuse Treatment of SAMHSA; three different treatment programs providing culturally-competent substance abuse services to the following Asian populations:

      1. AARS:  residential program providing drug treatment services through a therapeutic community approach to San Francisco adults
      2. ADAPT:  day treatment program providing drug treatment services primarily to mono-lingual Asian adult immigrants in San Francisco
      3. The Place:  drug treatment intervention program serving Southeast Asian youth in the San Jose area
